The Story Writing Masterclass was developed around three core principles, grounded in a deep understanding of the challenges students at this age commonly face. This carefully designed programme aims to: - Instil confidence - Inspire creativity - Strengthen accuracy Across twelve 55-minute weekly sessions, students will learn how to craft engaging, well-structured narratives while developing the ability to think critically about their writing. By the end of the course, they will leave with not only stronger storytelling skills, but also valuable, transferable techniques they can apply with confidence to future school assignments. What will this masterclass cover? Vocabulary Develop the skill of crafting precise, expressive vocabulary that strengthens your narrative and captures the reader’s imagination. Description Learn to create compelling characters and vivid settings, and describe them in ways that bring your stories to life. Structure Master narrative organisation and apply advanced techniques—foreshadowing, flashbacks, and plot twists—to create engaging, memorable stories. Tension Every compelling story relies on tension. Learn how to build and sustain it to make your writing more gripping. Imagery Explore similes, metaphors, and personification, and discover how to use them to create rich, memorable, and immersive narratives. Variety Master the art of varied sentence structures and grammatical techniques to make your stories lively, readable, and memorable. COURSE TERMS – 12-WEEK STORY WRITING MASTERCLASS (AGES 7–8) I’m delighted your child is joining the Story Writing Masterclass. These simple terms are here to make sure everything runs smoothly for families, students, and the tutor. By booking the course, you’re agreeing to the points below. 1. How the course works The masterclass runs for 12 live online lessons at the scheduled weekly time. Each lesson builds on the previous one, so attending regularly really helps children get the most from the programme. 2. Attendance Booking the course means you’re reserving your child’s place for the full 12-week programme. Please do your best to have your child ready and logged in on time each week. Individual missed lessons cannot normally be rescheduled. 3. If your child can’t attend Lessons can be recorded (on request) so absent students can catch up. Recordings are shared only with enrolled families for learning purposes. Recordings must not be shared publicly or posted online. By enrolling, you give permission for your child to appear in these class recordings where needed. 4. Creating a positive classroom To keep sessions fun, safe, and productive for everyone: Children should be kind and respectful to others. The tutor may mute or remove a student temporarily if behaviour is very disruptive. In rare cases of repeated serious disruption, a place on the course may be withdrawn. 5. Parent support For the best experience, parents agree to: Provide a reliable device and internet connection Help younger students log in if needed Share any important learning needs in advance where possible 6. Payment and refunds Payment secures your child’s place on the full course. Once the course has started, refunds are not normally available. If the tutor ever needs to cancel a lesson, a replacement session or suitable alternative will always be provided. 7. Changes in exceptional circumstances Very occasionally, sessions may need to be rescheduled due to illness or emergencies. If this happens, you’ll be informed as early as possible and an alternative time will be arranged. 8.Agreement By booking the Story Writing Masterclass, you confirm that you: Understand the course schedule Accept the attendance and recording arrangements Give permission for your child to participate in live online lessons If you ever have questions, concerns, or need support during the course, please don’t hesitate to get in touch — I’m always happy to help.
